“And as we let our own light shine we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”
~ Marianne Williamson
Over the past few months, I have been unable to find my words.
Sometimes, they felt imprisoned in the recesses of my soul.
Other times, they felt so intermingled with the collective, knitted fabric of thoughts and emotions surrounding the unjust, traumatic, violent taking of lives and tangled web of political rhetoric that I couldn’t separate my words from those of others.
Wherever they were, they were gone (and with them went pieces of my spirit).
Despite searching in all the familiar places, venturing into the darkest corners and even howling desperate cries into the ethers, they remained safely (or stubbornly) hidden just out of my reach.
It was painful…haunting…numbing.
After all, who is a writer without her words?
And then, one day, while contemplating this separation from my words, I saw a soft glow radiating from the center of my heart. Even with the smallest acknowledgment, this light expanded and became brighter as it urged me closer and closer to the answer I was seeking.
The answer I have always known but had temporarily forgotten.
We are the creators. We are the magic makers. We are the ones who will change the world.
When our words are lost, we find them.
When our paints run dry, we mix more.
When our ideas make our hearts beat with excitement, we do whatever it takes to give them life.
Regardless of what is going on outside of us, we will always have our own creativity to guide us through the darkness. Who we are and how we choose to be in the world are the only things that we can truly control.
They are the only things that make us, US.
And more than ever, the world needs our creativity. It needs that gift inside of us that makes us unique and unlike anyone else in the world.
Through our art, our words, our music, our dedication to shining our brightest, we can heal the world.
Here, at Be You, we want to hold that space for each of you to live your creativity with boldness and vulnerability. We want to share with others your beauty and courage in choosing to be yourself—Choosing to Be You.
When you’re ready, we’re here for you, waiting with open arms.
